Each widow's mite bronze coin was hand-struck in Judea during the reign of Alexander Jannaeus (106-73 BCE). Due to this special method, each coin is entirely unique (appearances will therefore vary). No other coin matches the specifications of your individual gift. The obverse side of the widow's mite has an inverted anchor with the inscription "Basileus Alexandrou" (reign of Alexander [Jannaeus]). The reverse side, usually more pronounced, has an eight-pointed star surrounded by a circle, giving the appearance of a wheel. Each coin is attractively mounted in a sterling silver pendant and is suspended from a sixteen-inch sterling silver chain. The pendant is approximately 1.5cm in diameter. We deliberately chose an elegant, understated setting to reflect the simplicity and stark beauty of the symbolism typified by the widow's mite.
