Widows Mite

Widows MiteThe Product

Each widow's mite bronze coin was hand-struck in Judea during the reign of Alexander Jannaeus (106-73 BCE). Due to this special method, each coin is entirely unique (appearances will therefore vary). No other coin matches the specifications of your individual gift of Christian Jewelry.

The obverse side of the mite has an inverted anchor with the inscription "Basileus Alexandrou" (reign of Alexander [Jannaeus]). The reverse side, usually more pronounced, has an eight-pointed star surrounded by a circle, giving the appearance of a wheel. Each Christian coin is attractively mounted in a uniquely designed pendant. Most pendants are approximately 1.5cm in diameter. We deliberately chose elegant, understated settings to reflect the simplicity and stark beauty of the Christian symbolism typified by the widow's mite.

To best showcase the powerful simplicity of your widow's mite, each pendant can be presented in an attractive olivewood box made especially for us by Christian Bethlehem artisans. Included is a certificate of authenticity signed by one of Israel's premier antiquities experts, as well as an informative letter explaining the significance of this very special piece of jewelry.
